Photo Walk Phnom Penh – Saturday, 3rd August 2013 – 11am

Hi everyone!

It’s been a long time since we had our last photo walk. I think it’s about time we went on another adventure! Since it’s the first one in a while, we thought we’d go big and head over to the Central Market. It’s pretty intimidating to go alone and take photos so we think it’d be fun to go as a group (if the groups too big, we can always split in two/three groups). There will be plenty of things to photography but if we want to explore the area around the Central Market, the route is completely flexible!

Who’s welcome?

Everyone! Whether you’ve got a camera phone, a point and shoot, a fancy DSLR, or an old style film camera, all are welcome. Pro or amateur, it matters not. All that matters if that you’re interested in having a wander around Phnom Penh taking some photos.

If you’re interested and need some contact details, leave a comment here and I’ll drop you an email. Don’t worry, your email address is not shown to anyone other than the photo walk organisers.

What do I need?

Very little fortunately! Some sort of image capturing device is a good idea (though we’ve had people just come along for the walk) – whether that’s your camera phone, a point-and-shoot, a home-made pinhole camera, a fancy DSLR, or, well, you get the idea.

Of course, as we’re in monsoon season it’d be advisable to bring a plastic bag which you can stow your camera if heavy rain hits, and probably not a bad idea to have a rain mac (though you can always get these on the roadside in times of need). Otherwise, that’s it!

How will I know who the Photowalk tour is?

There’ll be a bunch of us with camera gear inside/outside the meeting point. As above, drop me a comment if you’d like to get some contact details to help meet up.

Meeting Point

We will be meeting at 11am at True Coffee Shop inside Paradise Hotel, located on the corner of Monivong and st. 127 near the Central Market.

Photo Walk Phnom Penh – Sunday 4th September 2011

Time for another Photo Walk and this time we’re going to change it up a little bit and see something quite different. We’re going to meet at Naga World, in the lobby lounge (which could prompt some photo taking in and of itself), and from there we’re going to meander down to the banks of the Mekong and jump on a ferry across the river and see what we can find! The ferry is very cheap and only takes about ten or fifteen minutes to traverse the Mekong.

Hope to see you there tomorrow!

Date: Sunday 4th September, 2011.
Meet:
3.30pm in the Lobby Lounge of the Naga World Hotel
Start: 4pm, outside Naga World.
Route: The route is totally open this time depending on what catches our eyes once we cross the Mekong!

Photo Walk Phnom Penh – Sunday 3rd July 2011

It’s that time of the month – photo walk time! Although it was intended to be a Sunday afternoon walk, we’ve moved it to the morning time as a number of people weren’t available later in the day. Apologies for the late notice on this. Hope you can still make it.

Date: Sunday 3rd July, 2011.
Meet:
11am at 3Rivers Restaurant on Street 258 (just off Blvd Samdach Sothearos), breakfast/coffee and chat!
Start: 11.30am, outside 3Rivers.
Route: The main goal of this photo walk is to visit The Royal University of Fine arts and its environs, although there’s always great photo opportunities in the park on Sothearos. We’ve created an approximate route map to give you an idea where we’re going to be walking on the day. As always, this route is totally flexible depending on what catches our eyes!

Date: Sunday 8th May, 2011.
Meet:
3.30pm at Riverside Bistro.
Start: 4pm, outside Riverside Bistro

Photo Walk Phnom Penh – 3rd April 2011

Following on from the thoroughly enjoyable first Photo Walk (check out the flickr group to see the results), we’re doing another one (first weekend of every month is the plan). So, this Sunday, 3rd April, in Phnom Penh. Check out the details below!

Date: Sunday 3rd April, 2011.
Meet/Breakfast:
7.00am at Cafe Java – if you don’t feel like breakfast/coffee before we start, just be there at the start time below.
Start: 7.30am, outside Cafe Java
Route: We’re open to following our noses a bit, but the general idea is to head over to Sothearos/Samdach and meander south heading into a fairly interesting little neighbourhood between Norodom and Samdach. From there we’ll go through the Buddhist village/area/temple and potentially, make our way over to BKK market. We’ll see how the photo walkers feel.
